How true is this? I spoke to a Chinese friend of mine who does a lot of business in Australian and China. He explained something I had not heard before, but sounds true.
He said that Chinese business people have cold faces but warm hearts. Australians have warm faces and cold hearts.
Chinese business is done coolly and directly not showing much emotion but once the business is signed and completed they want to connect on a deeper level and build that relationship into trust and mutual obligation.
Australian business is done with smiles, informality and back slapping showing a lot of openness but once the business is signed and completed they move on to the next opportunity. They don’t want to build the relationship and are very focused on the next deal.
Is this why collaboration is more difficult in Australia?
Like all generalised comments there will be exceptions but is this an exception or a rule. What is your experience?
