MASTERY COMPARED TO UNMASTERY

Mastery Sessions are about optimisation. Getting much better at who you already are, and what you already do.  More of the same. But better.

This session is about UnMastery.  UnMastery is the meta-skill of consciously retiring ways of thinking, acting, or operating. That once worked very well. But no longer fit your world, as it is now.

WHY ATTEND?

The behavioural data is clear.  We have entered a period where, around the world, individuals with similar intelligence, experience, and resources are.  We are getting very different outcomes.

Some individuals and SMEs feel energised, adaptive, and strategically alive. At the same time, others feel reactive, overloaded, and increasingly stuck.

The difference is not effort or knowledge.  It is behavioural alignment, or misalignment, with our world as it now is. [The iz-ness factors!]. Rather than how it has been.  [The waz-ness factors!]

ABOUT THE PRESENTER: NEVILLE CHRISTIE

Notorious

One of the first foundation members of Uncommon.  At 84, Neville D. Christie is officially the co-founder of STEEP Renaissance Pty Ltd.  His latest global, shared adventure.  And our youngest older member.

Notorious for many things.  Most visibly his outrageous shirts and tops.  For declaring, he intends to live vitally until 103. Leave specially.  And for using this annoying, truncated form of language.  Science says changes perceptions.

His core life and business theme.  Is simple: Holistic Aliveness.

Precocious entrepreneur

At age 12. While still full-time at school. After unexpectedly becoming the head of the household. Neville founded his first three micro-businesses. Soon, he was earning 5-7 times the basic wage.

Born with the so-called restless gene (DRD4-7R).  Which scientists are associated with novelty-seeking, risk tolerance, and exploratory behaviour? And a healthy impatience with the status quo.  Neville has reinvented himself roughly every three years ever since. Including right now. Today.

Learning from Merlin

At a very early age.  Perhaps four or five.  Neville intuitively stepped into the Merlin archetype.  The shape-changer. The mentor to kings, leaders, and knights – and days!. The mystic. The multiple-persona traveller between worlds.

From that moment on. His life has unfolded. As a series of deliberate transformations.

Across these many chapters, Neville’s lived roles have included:

·       Serial innovator and entrepreneur. Futurist. CEO. Company chairman and director of private and public companies.

·       Third-World aid volunteer and executive. Musician and conductor. Urban shaman. Depth psychologist. Author. Publisher. Venture capitalist and venture manager.

·       Personal and business mentor. Psychotherapist. Explorer of inner and outer worlds. Documenter of what works and transforms.

Creating and building

Through his many twists, turns, failures, wounds, breakthroughs, and reinventions, Neville has accumulated an unusually large body of transformative wisdom.  And intellectual property. Practical. Psychological. Strategic. Deeply human.  And strikingly appropriate to us all right now.  As we act to become Futures Fit.

His life legacy is now clear.

Over the next ten years, starting now. Neville commits to sharing this body of work. Through: Platforms. Products. Processes. Programs. Person-to-person encounters.  Not alone. But with apprentices, partners, colleagues, tribes, peers, existing SMEs, corporations, and communities.

Neville’s focus, now, is on enlivening and rejigging the STEEP Renaissance, emerging at the big end of town.  Making it more shared and equitable. And, on 15 ‘gold collar’ industries, evolving upwards.  To create a new meta-industry:  Transformation as a Service [TaaS].

For Neville, legacy is about the whole person, whole system transmission. About staying fully, mischievously, vitally alive.  And super wealthy – in 14 different dimensions – including monetary.
