Uncommon Thinking
In 1764, a small group of artists, writers, and philosophers formed 'The Club'. They met once every other week at various places around London. Luminaries such as Samuel Johnson. James Boswell, Edmund Burke, Edward Gibbon and Adam Smith all attended. “Arguably the greatest British critic, biographer, political philosopher, historian, and economist of all time,” all came from The Club.
Word began to spread and soon, the group expanded to include the painter Joshua Reynold, the playwrights Richard Brinsley Sheridan and Oliver Goldsmith, and the actor David Garrick, considered the best of his century.
Members of 'The Club' gave each other ideas. They inspired and challenged each other. They grieved together and had grievances with each other.
They argued and teased and critiqued each other’s work.
Yes, they competed with each other but they also supported each other and opened doors for each other.
The questions for you then are:
Who is in your club?
Where do you go to learn, exchange ideas, inspire, and be inspired?
Who will help you navigate the uncertainty of business and identify pathways forward? Where will you discover the skills and resources we need to fuel growth - personal and professional?
In a world where access is universal and everything is public, how do you rediscover intimate relationships with depth and meaning?
The answer isn't in another app, networking organisation or event. The answer is in deep peer-based relationships that start with an abundance mindset at their foundation. A collective growing and learning together. Following proven pathways to the solutions we need and desire.
